Email from Matt Parker: I picked up used brace at a flea market and it's in great shape besides the covering of surface rust. I have de-rusted many plane parts in the past in the same way you do by submerging in a vinegar solution , but with the wooden parts on the brace I don't see this as a good option. How would you go about removing the rust?
